China took American manufacturing through [currency manipulation](http://www.evolvingexcellence.com/blog/2011/05/this-whole-currency-thing.html?ref=kevinmeyer.com), [exploitation of child labor](http://www.csmonitor.com/Innovation/2012/1016/Apple-manufacturer-Foxconn-admits-to-employing-underage-interns?ref=kevinmeyer.com), [blatant abuse of its citizen workers](http://www.evolvingexcellence.com/blog/2010/06/the-fiddlers-tab-comes-due.html?ref=kevinmeyer.com) and complete disregard for intellectual property laws ... facilitated by Wall Street's ravenous appetite for short term profits and woefully naive academic theorists.

No one benefited more from it than [Steve Jobs](http://www.evolvingexcellence.com/blog/2012/07/apples-average-traditional-supply-chain.html?ref=kevinmeyer.com) ... and no one has been more blind to it as [Barack Obama](http://www.evolvingexcellence.com/blog/2011/04/the-pecking-order.html?ref=kevinmeyer.com).
