A Little Prayer Might Help

by BILL WADDELL

If you are the praying type a lot of good manufacturing folks in northern Japan can use all the help you can give.

The earthquake early this morning in Japan, "... is disrupting a region that's a center for auto making in the world's third-largest economy.  Toyota, the world's biggest carmaker, said it and its affiliates closed three factories ... Nissan Motor said it extinguished two fires at factories and Kyodo reported that the Yokohama based company halted production at four factories."

And, "two men were killed by a collapsing wall at a Honda factory in Tochigi prefecture."

The details are still a long way from becoming fully known but things are clearly difficult in Japan.

For that matter, I am quite remiss in urging the same thoughts and prayers for the folks in Christchurch, New Zealand following the earthquake there not long ago.  While my friends at the Kaizen Institute in Auckland have assured me that their friends and family members in the region are OK, the same cannot be said for the families of a number of their clients.

The wishes, thoughts and prayers of 60,000+ Superfactory and Evolving Excellence readers may not help, but they certainly can't hurt.
