Jolly Old England - The Innovation Nation

by BILL WADDELL

A little over two years ago the British Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, John Denham, said: "We must make the UK the best place in the world to run an innovative business or public service, where innovation can flourish across every area of the economy."

Every British heart beat a little faster when he added, "It is the British people who will create a world beating innovation nation and that is why we must unlock talent at all levels by investing in skills, research and the exploitation of knowledge."

With that kind of leadership you know it was only a matter of time before they hit paydirt.  In an engineering breakthrough that has got to be the most amazing bit of technology to come out of England since the Tetley boys figured out how to put tea in bags back in 1953, a British college kid has accomplished the seemingly impossible.
