I'd like to welcome Craig Woll to the Evolving Excellence blog as one of our authors. You may recall his first post a few weeks ago, Power Laws and Pull Platforms, which discussed the lean implications of gaussian and paretian distributions. Craig has a rather unique background in that he's very proficient at lean manufacturing, but from a different angle. With a BS in psychology and a PhD in instructional technology, he has been working with Fortune-50 companies to develop effective lean training methods. I've had the pleasure of working with him on a project outside of this blog, and I'm looking forward to his future posts.
Now... how do I weave Oprah and Paris Hilton into this post to make it even more interesting? Suprisingly easily. After a few very hectic weeks of work and home projects I convinced my wife that I needed a few days of "me time," so I found a great last minute (24 hour notice!) trip to Maui, specifically the Wailea side that I've always enjoyed. Coincidentally my wife was born on Hawaii and many years ago we were married at a small historic church on the beach a couple miles away in Makena.
After arriving and checking in, I found out that Oprah has apparently booked most of the Grand Wailea next door. Then who should arrive at the Four Seasons on the other side? Paris Hilton, stretching her legs after having spent a couple weeks in slightly more cramped quarters. So I guess you could say I'm sandwiched between... well... never mind. Many of you know what I think of Oprah. Anyway, welcome to Maui! I hope you enjoy the opakapaka as much as I do.
For all you guys out there, if you want to learn how to get spousal authorization for a "me time" vacation, feel free to email me. But be forewarned, it takes great skill and planning.
